Hi, my name is Caitlin Walsh, Owner and Founder of Delea Fermented Foods.
I grew up on a smallholding here in Cornwall, so from an early age appreciated the need for local, organic produce – not only to support local business, but also from a wellbeing perspective.
For the last ten years I have struggled with my health and have tried numerous ways of improving it. The most effective of these has been an understanding of what I eat and a positive attitude towards nurturing my body.Through research into the human gut microbiome and the profound effects it can have on our body’s ecosystem, I have begun my journey in an area that is still relatively new.
While travelling and communicating with people all over the world, I have found that I’m not alone. I have seen first-hand the positive ways in which good food including fermented foods, can transform lives, from the simple pleasures of enjoying a delicious dish to alleviating chronic illnesses.
Although I have years of experience providing high quality service in the food and beverage industry, my real passion lies with the honest food I produce, using fresh and local ingredients. In October 2019, I decided to set up Delea as a way of connecting with people through quality food, applying all that I have learned and continue to learn through my own health journey.
At a time when food intolerances are becoming more and more apparent, I take great pride in constructing recipes, so that more people can enjoy tasty, flavoursome food.
